Relevance: 6.63
In most cases, operating system updates are a good thing because they fix problems and sometimes provide new functionality for you to use and enjoy. There's no problem with this, but when these updates cause more problems than they solve, then you know something's wrong.

How important are software updates to you?

02/20/2008  IIIIIIII
Relevance: 5.59
Getting my feet wet in OpenBSD has gotten me thinking about how different operating systems handle software updates -- and how important security patches and bug fixes really are. The State of Security Threats on Web Browsers

10/06/2006  III
Relevance: 5.18
We’ve been talking about security a lot lately, and for good reason. Every one of us has been forced into a position where we have to think about it, and if we don’t, then we’ll pay the price for it. Many of us have become so lazy that we sometimes skip installing system updates or new antivirus definitions even though all we may really need to do is click a button and wait a little while. If it’s not streamlined and automatic, then we’ll somehow find a way to miss out on these important updates.
