Linux: Supporting Older GCC Releases

A recent bug report led to a discussion about potentially dropping support for pre-4.0 versions of GCC. Adrian Bunk noted,"currently we support 6 different stable gcc release series, and it might be the right time to consider dropping support for the older ones. Are there any architectures still requiring a gcc< 4.0 ?" Russell King noted that on some architectures GCC 3.x is still preferable to the newer 4.x branch,"I want to keep support for gcc 3.4.3 for ARM for the foreseeable future.

Test Oracle's Linux support, says Gartner

Sun to support AMP plus Linux

Sun Microsystems is putting the"L" back into LAMP with plans to support customers running the open-source Apache, MySQL and Perl or PHP (AMP) stack on Linux. The company said it plans paid, enterprise-level support for AMP on Linux in the fourth-quarter of 2008, in addition to supporting AMP on its preferred platform, of course, Solaris. Support of AMP on Solaris servers is due this quarter.

Mirth 1.4 Released with HL7 v3, X12 and EDI Support

Support for Mozilla Firefox 1.5 Extended Until Mid-May

On the day that support for Mozilla Firefox 1.5 was scheduled to end, an announcement has been posted on the Mozilla Developer News weblog stating that support for Firefox 1.5 has been extended until mid-May. Once support for Firefox 1.5 ends, no more 1.5.0.x security and stability updates will be released. The last such update was Firefox 1.5.0.11, which was made available on Tuesday 20th March this year. Users are strongly advised to upgrade to the latest Firefox 2 release, currently 2.0.0.3, as soon as possible.
