At the bottom of the Vim editor, you will find two things: the command-line buffer (where you can input commands) and the status line. In the default configuration, Vim has a simple and non-informative status line, but you can make the status line a lot more informative with simple methods.

07/06/2007  I
Relevance: 6.50
Alan Cox posted an updated LibATA PATA (IDE) status report on the lkml. Improved from a previous status report [story] he noted,"current kernels now support HPA (Host Protected Area) but default to honouring it. Probably a wrong default for PATA but we need to decide the right way to expose it nicely." He went on to note,"no PATA hotplug support yet. PDF now an ISO standard

07/06/2008  IIIIII
Relevance: 5.20
The Portable Document Format (PDF) is now an ISO International Standard: ISO 32000-1. The change in status follows a decision by Adobe Systems, original developer and copyright owner of the format, to relinquish control to ISO. The move means that the ISO is now in charge of publishing the specifications for the current version (1.7) and for updating and developing future versions. Despite impressions that PDF has beena proprietary format owned by Adobe, PDF has long been an open standard. The move to have PDF declared an ISO standard reinforces the open status of PDF.
