12/13/2008  IIII
Relevance: 8.54
The Eclipse Plug-in for Generating and Executing Test Cases for Database Objects enables users to automatically generate JUnit or SQLUnit test cases for database objects. By using defined code templates and parameter templates, the repetitive effort of handling the objects is significantly reduced.

The JavaScript Diaries: Part 10

03/27/2007  I
Relevance: 7.57
There are four objects that provide information about the environment of the user's system. They belong to the window object: navigator, screen, history and location. These objects are used to obtain information such as screen size and resolution, color depth of the monitor, limited information on the browser history, and the URL. In addition, information such as the user's operating system, including the browser type, version and language can also be obtained. In this installment, we'll look at objects, their related properties and methods. We'll delve deeper into them when we use them later in our study.

Animating slide shows in OpenOffice.org Impress

10/17/2008  I
Relevance: 6.67
Animation is one of the less-known features in OpenOffice.org Impress. Its most obvious uses are for transitions for individual objects on a slide (rather than for the entire slide), or for dramatic emphasis and calling attention to objects. But it can also be used for more serious purposes, such as illustrating a procedure that is clearer if you can see it in motion -- for instance, one of the most effective animations I saw showed was on a Society for Creative Anachronism site that explained how the links in chain mail fitted together.

C++ Futures: Lambda Functions

09/22/2006  IIIIII
Relevance: 6.49
Like the Lambada, only differentColumn The use of"lambda" originates from functional programming and lambda calculus, where a lambda abstraction defines an unnamed function. Lambda functions or Lambdas in C++ are one of the more interesting things to look forward to in the next C++ standard; giving us the ability to treat functions as first class objects at last; composing them inline and treating them as class objects. Up until now we've scraped by with pointers to functions, and various libraries like Boost Lambda, both of which approaches suck.

Proprietary software? Counsel objects

07/18/2008  I
Relevance: 5.73
Nathan Zale Dowlen objects to proprietary software, so when he opened his new law office, he outfitted it with Ubuntu Linux and open source software. Cost was the main factor in his decision at first, but he has since come to appreciate the security found in FOSS and the ease of use found with Ubuntu. Dowlen has used Linux and open source software since 2006, when he attended the Nashville School of Law, and had no trouble with compatibility, since"OpenOffice.org will open almost anything thrown at it." He recorded lectures with Audacity and even found that his"Linux based laptop did a better job of automatically finding printers on the school's wireless network than when it ran Windows."
