10/28/2006 Relevance: 7.36Over the past four months, I've been fighting an escalating battle against link spammers. Typically, link spammers use automated programs to help spread their garbage. Several events over the last month have me wondering if one has taken a personal interest in my site.Search further

It's a strange thing about serialized content; the only way I can hook you up with a link that will get you links from part 4 to parts 3, 2 and 1 is to give you the last link.Search further

11/08/2008 Relevance: 6.47Let's say you are on an expensive satellite link that can barely provide enough bandwidth for your company's Internet access and you will want to do whatever you can to get as much as possible out of this link. Moreover, occasionally you lose power from the utility company, long enough for your UPS to run out. There are a few things you could do to get a lot more from your link. In this article, we will be looking at speeding up your dns requests by keeping a cache of responses to your dns requests on your hard disk. Subsequent dns request are then served from the cache and because a copy is on disk, you don't lose it when there is a power outage or a reboot.Search further
09/10/2006 Relevance: 6.46Dear Nick: Why does my computer seem to lock up whenever it tries to open a new link? For instance, I tried to open your profile from RNews, but instead I received the"Not responding" message and my computer sat there doing nothing for about a minute before it recovered and stayed at the RNews page from which I started. 03/23/2008 Relevance: 5.92During my article on Amiga emulation on the Linux platform I had deliberately neglected to mention AmiKit as there appeared to be only MS Windows based executable installers and zip archives on the AmiKit web site. After the article went live, Mike kindly informed us there was indeed a Linux friendly archive of AmiKit. I emailed the AmiKit author, Jan Zahurancik, requesting a link to it as there was no link to be found on the AmiKit web site, only MS centric archives. He duly replied with 3 links, which Jan has requested I do not show here as they were not and are not public versions, to AmiKit in zip and lzx format as well as a link to a PDF file showing how to get AmiKit working on the Linux platform.Search further
08/21/2007 Relevance: 5.73Interclue is a Firefox extension that lets you preview whatever a hyperlink on a page is pointing to. Unlike other link previewers, Interclue doesn't just display a tiny replica of what's hiding under the link. It uses algorithms to intelligently construct a summary of the target page and displays it in a window with lots of other information and statistics about the page.Search further
04/15/2008 Relevance: 5.70If you click this link, you can see my house. That vehicle in the driveway is my 1991 Ford Ranger. I give you that link without hesitation, because with the current state of technology, it's a simple point and click to get my address, and a copy/paste after that to get a map. I'm not so naive that I consider an unlisted phone number viable protection from the prying eyes of the world. Does that mean privacy is dead? Well, I'd argue yes and no.Search further
