08/30/2008 Relevance: 5.20In an interesting post on Lifehacker, the editors ask the readers"Why did you switch to Linux?" The question drew quite a lot of interesting responses, including some very offbeat reasons for why people made the switch. If you're under the impression that people switch solely for rebellious or"fight the man" reasons, here are some of the more interesting responses and trends that they point to.Search further
08/16/2008 Relevance: 5.14Earlier this year prior to the release of GNOME 2.22 we had shared eight interesting improvements in GNOME 2.22. Some of these improvements included Epiphany with the WebKit back-end (if built with the proper argument), Evince Document Viewing improvements, Cheese web-camera software, Mousetweaks, the Vinagre VNC client, and Totem enhancements. Now with the official GNOME 2.24 release due out next month, this time around we're sharing a few of the interesting highlights for this GNOME update.Search further
01/08/2008 Relevance: 4.58I got an OLPC XO-1 a few days ago in the mail as part of the give one, get one program. Hopefully some child out there is enjoying their new laptop. We like hardware, and the OLPC XO-1 is an interesting piece of hardware. There are plenty of teardowns for the OLPC XO-1 (including one on the OLPC wiki itself), so I won't repeat the tedium of what screw comes out of where and just cut to what I thought were interesting highlights.Search further

01/30/2007 Relevance: 4.38A couple of interesting stories related to open source user-centric identity came my way, courtesy of CNET. The first concerns a donation to the Higgins Project from IBM and the second is about some important interoperability announcements to come at this week's RSA Conference.Search further
09/30/2006 Relevance: 4.33I have been very busy recently and have not updated the site with anything interesting or new - ironically I have not really done anything interesting or new in the last month or so. I have been getting ready for this year's Ohio Linuxfest conference (see their website for details). This year I will attending as an Open Source vendor. Steve Dickinson and I will be at the NetBSD booth (table) with flyers and a small system with NetBSD installed on it. Pics and comments to follow of course.Search further
04/05/2008 Relevance: 4.31Just days after accusations had been made against IBM and a ban put in place, IBM was cleared of all charges and the ban was lifted. The Register was quick with its report and so was The Inquirer. [...] As you can trivially find in the latest news, the whole accusation turns out to be some kind of a horrible mistake that no-one understand (total bafflement) and it's worth stressing that the timing was interesting almost as interesting as those responses from Microsoft apologists who defended Microsoft's actions by wrongly accusing IBM.Search further
11/19/2008 Relevance: 4.31The iPhone and iPod Touch haven taken the mobile market by storm. Apple's AppStore is full of interesting applications that take advantage of the two devices's capabilities. But what's in there for Linux users? Sadly, GTKPod and Amarok cannot yet transfer files on an iPhone with the 2.x firmware upgrade, but there are other interesting ways your iPhone can interact with your Linux desktop and even servers.Search further
05/12/2007 Relevance: 4.26In addition to the seven official tracks, this year's Red Hat Summit has an unofficial eighth track for the press. Day 2 saw two official announcements: Red Hat Exchange and a new partnership with Sybase. In addition to covering the press conferences, I had time to sit in on some interesting presentations.Search further
