Earlier this year prior to the release of GNOME 2.22 we had shared eight interesting improvements in GNOME 2.22. Some of these improvements included Epiphany with the WebKit back-end (if built with the proper argument), Evince Document Viewing improvements, Cheese web-camera software, Mousetweaks, the Vinagre VNC client, and Totem enhancements. Now with the official GNOME 2.24 release due out next month, this time around we're sharing a few of the interesting highlights for this GNOME update.

I got an OLPC XO-1 a few days ago in the mail as part of the give one, get one program. Hopefully some child out there is enjoying their new laptop. We like hardware, and the OLPC XO-1 is an interesting piece of hardware. There are plenty of teardowns for the OLPC XO-1 (including one on the OLPC wiki itself), so I won't repeat the tedium of what screw comes out of where and just cut to what I thought were interesting highlights.

Akademy-es 2007 in Zaragoza, Spain

I have been very busy recently and have not updated the site with anything interesting or new - ironically I have not really done anything interesting or new in the last month or so. I have been getting ready for this year's Ohio Linuxfest conference (see their website for details). This year I will attending as an Open Source vendor. Steve Dickinson and I will be at the NetBSD booth (table) with flyers and a small system with NetBSD installed on it. Pics and comments to follow of course.

Did Microsoft Attack IBM by Proxy to Restrain OOXML Critics?

Just days after accusations had been made against IBM and a ban put in place, IBM was cleared of all charges and the ban was lifted. The Register was quick with its report and so was The Inquirer. [...] As you can trivially find in the latest news, the whole accusation turns out to be some kind of a horrible mistake that no-one understand (total bafflement) and it's worth stressing that the timing was interesting almost as interesting as those responses from Microsoft apologists who defended Microsoft's actions by wrongly accusing IBM.

Sadly, GTKPod and Amarok cannot yet transfer files on an iPhone with the 2.x firmware upgrade, but there are other interesting ways your iPhone can interact with your Linux desktop and even servers.
