This week at LWN: Between Fedora 12 and 13

12/11/2009  II
Relevance: 6.52
In many minds, the Fedora 12 release is likely to remain forever associated with the project's ill-advised decision to allow any local user to install packages without the root password. That mistake is now in the past and, in any case, there is far more to Fedora 12 than this particular problem. In this article, your editor looks at the quality of the Fedora 12 release and ponders what Fedora 13 may bring.

08/08/2007  IIIIIIIIII

Fedora stats offer insight into Linux usage

07/28/2007  IIIIIIIIII
Relevance: 6.45
The Fedora Project offered a peek under its kimono recently with details about Fedora 7 adoption and other statistics. Fedora 7 has snagged more than 300,000 users since its release at the end of May. While that sounds pretty good, Fedora Core 6 managed to attract more than 400,000 in roughly the same amount of time after its release. We asked Max Spevack, the Fedora project leader, whether the numbers are telling the full story.

In-depth Fedora 7 Review

08/09/2007  IIIIIIIIII
Relevance: 6.45
If you're a Fedora user the end of May means one thing...time for a new release! This year was no different as the Fedora project continued its aggressive six month release schedule. Fedora 7, code named 'Moonshine' , is the latest version of the Red Hat influenced Linux distribution. Fedora regulars will note the absence of the word 'Core' in the new name. This isn't the only change with this release. We'll delve into what's new in 7 as well as review Fedora from a desktop standpoint.
