China gets into the FOSS groove

If there is mass take-up of free and open source software in any country over the next few years, that country is likely to be China. On the FOSS front, China is quietly making progress. The country already has its own distribution, Red Flag Linux. A recent GNU/Linux user convention in Beijing underlined the fact that while there are still many problems within the industry, growth of 28 per cent is forecast between 2006 and 2010.

Once upon a time, long ago, there was someone from a faraway country in South America doing an advanced program at MIT in Boston, where he met with the soft-shell stage of the One Laptop Per Child project. This person eventually went back to his country, started meeting and inviting locals to learn about OLPC. He kept in touch and received a couple visits of now long, long gone and forgotten OLPC employees. Eventually he called his team the"Grupo OLPC (country name)".

Hello to all, my name is jeinner campos, i am from Managua, Nicaragua, i am new at the linux world but i use Mandriva, why? JUST BECAUSE IS THE BEST DISTRO I HAVE TRIED!!! Now, in my country, there are linux groups, SUSE, UBUNTU, FEDORA, DEBIAN and when i went to an install fest, i didnt see any MANDRIVA TEAM... so i say... I GOTTA DO SOMETHING. I got in contact with the linux comunity in my country and i started a project, of a mandriva group. now we have the Mandriva Nicaragua website.
